Youth Peer Support Specialist

About this role 

  

As our Peer Support Specialist, you will work with youth who are receiving services focused on their mental health diagnoses and in need of a knowledgeable support system to provide guidance.  In this role, you will offer your own story of mental health services and recovery, help clients manage their diagnoses, and navigate peer relationship and various life transitions.  You will work as part of our Behavioral Health Home team and receive meaningful supervision to aid in your own professional growth.

  • Competitive pay rate $18.00-$20.00/hour
  • Flexible schedule: 8-10 hours a week, typically afternoon/evening/weekend
  • Great 2nd job for entry into the mental health field

Does the following apply to you? 

  

  • 18 - 28 years of age (due to state program requirements)
  • Receiving/received services for mental illness diagnoses (PTSD, Anxiety, ADHD, Depression, etc.) and in recovery.  Candidate must be willing to self-identify with clients to aid in their growth.
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing (record will be verified through Maine DMV)
  • Background check through Department of Human Services of Maine

  

Must meet one (1) of these: 

  

  • CIPSS (Certified Intentional Peer Support Services) certification and training- preferred. 
  • Willingness to become certified within 9 months of hire as CIPSS
